San Juan, La Union, Philippines – The United Philippine Surfing Association (UPSA) today conducted a productive longboarding workshop, marked by a morning free surf session for skill assessment and video analysis, followed by an insightful lecture on fundamental longboarding principles led by Coach Lee Ryan.
The event drew an estimated 40+ participants, including surfers from key regions such as Siargao, Baler, Catanduanes, Bagasbas, and Sorsogon, all eager to deepen their knowledge of longboarding and judging criteria. The day concluded with a practical 20-point drill at Monaliza Point, emphasizing wave selection and competition skills.

Tomorrow marks the final day of the workshop, with participants anticipating valuable insights and knowledge in the realm of longboard competitions from esteemed figures in Philippine surfing.

UPSA National Head Coach Ian Saguan, and Rogelio Esquivel, the 2024 Men’s Longboard Tour Rank 4 athlete, are both expected to share their expertise, providing attendees with crucial perspectives on competitive strategies and techniques. This concluding session promises to be an invaluable opportunity for aspiring and current longboard competitors.
