Cloud 9

Surf at Cloud 9

Cloud 9 is a world-famous barreling right-hand reef break and a must-surf for experienced riders. While it’s a short wave, its perfect, hollow barrels guarantee an unforgettable ride. It’s also one of the most accessible world-class waves you’ll ever find.

Who It’s For: Cloud 9 is strictly for advanced and pro surfers. The wave breaks over a very shallow reef, making it high-risk for beginners. However, there are beginner-friendly spots and guides available within walking distance.

When to Surf: The best time to surf is at mid to high tide. At low tide, the reef is extremely shallow, increasing the risk of injury and damaging your board. The reef is even exposed at low tide, which is perfect for walking out on the famous boardwalk to watch surfers get barreled.

Pro-Tip: To avoid the new beach entrance fee, just walk about 50 meters to the left or right of the main entrance to get to the water.
